Fast Facts About Jumps And ACL Injuries
Did you know that girls/women jump differently than men? The factors listed below predispose female athletes to more leg injuries.

1. Women jump and land in a more upright position.
2. Women land with greater ground-reaction forces.
3. Women jump with incorrect knee position.

The Science: The majority of non-contact ACL injuries occur during jumping or side-to-side, change of direction activities.

The Answer: Train or re-train jumping and landing technique. Change technique on side step or cutting maneuvers. Strengthen the leg muscles, glutes, hamstrings and the core.
To learn the correct jumping and landing mechanics, go to: How To Jump And Land To Prevent Injuries , listed in our section on ACL Injuries.
